Company Description:   StarNet Interactive owns and operates GirlSense.com, a rapidly growing online community for tween girls based around virtual fashion design and virtual retail that encourages creativity, collaboration and community as well as an entrepreneurial spirit in its members. This rapidly growing site currently serves approx. one million US-based unique users per month and is now  building out its potential as an ad-revenue based business.

OVERALL OPPORTUNITY: This is a special opportunity to help establish a special brand here in the USA - at ground floor level - as well as to be part of a dynamic, creative leadership team.  GirlSense.com wants to build its business in the right way – by providing stand out content, cutting edge applications and a safe, branded community for its enthusiastic users, thereby creating an attractive media environment for advertisers and other business partners who wish to reach the tween girl audience. StarNet Interactive is looking for an entrepreneurial, energetic, enthusiastic and strategically-minded ad sales professional who can not only build strong, revenue-building relationships with national brand advertisers and promotional partners, but also a strong team environment with other company leaders and staff.

SPECIFIC ROLE: To develop an online media sales operation for the GirlSense.com brand in the USA: 

 

  • Create a US sales presence for GirlSense.com

 

  • Create a framework for the smooth trafficking of sold inventory from insertion order to client billing

 

  • To set, meet and grow quarterly sales revenue targets

 

  • Develop internal and external relationships in order to maximize sales of the site’s online ad inventory which will include banners and in-page units, sponsorships, special promotions and sweepstakes and various forms of rich media

 

  • To contribute to business strategy development for the brand and to act as the “business eyes and ears” of the company for senior management

 

GENERAL CANDIDATE ATTRIBUTES:

The ideal candidate for this position will have at least a three-year history of media sales experience, including a demonstrably strong track record of success in developing digital media revenues (online, mobile, other interactive) and at least some of that time in a team leadership role.  S/he will have spent several years specializing in online ad sales for a consumer-centric destination site (or sites).  S/he will be an enthusiast for all types of entertainment media, (especially digital) and will be aware of, and sensitive to, the various brands in the relevant space.  The candidate will be personally interested in, and therefore avidly follow, new technical, business and brand developments and trends as well as partnership opportunities in digital space.

 

SPECIFIC CANDIDATE ATTRIBUTES:

  • Proven ability to help develop and implement a Web-based advertising revenue strategy, with solid experience in  unit pricing and industry CPMs.

 

  • The ability to set clear goals for self and team that mesh with the company’s overall mission as well as short term and long term revenue goals.

 

  • Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills, with competence to deliver presentations to prospects, senior clients and senior management within the company.

 

  • Demonstrable experience of, and ability to, create advertising and sponsorship packages beyond ROS sales (in tandem with Israel-based creative and tech teams).

 

  • Has a well-stocked, up-to-date Rolodex of client contacts and relationships.

 

  • Experience in the kids, tweens, or teens market would be an advantage

 

  • Ability to create strong profile for the GirlSense.com brand amongst US advertising and client communities through strong trade marketing skills and personal relationship-building.

 

  • Drive and discipline to build something from nothing: identify, develop and close new accounts/sales, with experience of complex negotiations.

 

  • Ability to develop, maintain and grow ad revenues through a sensitive understanding and application of both GirlSense brand mission and client needs.

 

  • Ability to work as a team with other department heads and their groups within the company – including design, editorial, technology, marketing and finance.

 

  • Willingness to travel around the US and to Israel, and to lead by example with a “shoe-leather” focus on sales leads and relationship management.

 

  • Strong time-management skills and sensitivity to deadlines as well as attention to detail

 

  • Highest levels of integrity as a person and total transparency in everyday business dealings.

 

 

Necessary Qualifications/Skills:

  • A university BA/BS or equivalent (business orientation preferred).

 

  • Deep familiarity and understanding of 3rd party quantitative tracking research (either Nielsen Net Ratings or Comscore Media Metrix) and internal performance metrics as they relate to the online space.

 

  • Mastery of MS Office (especially Word and Powerpoint).

 

  • Familiarity with ad serving solutions (e.g. Double Click etc).

 

  • Demonstrable experience of team management and personnel development.
